| Wright is the most consistant player on a first place team. Either he or Rollins gets the NL MVP. Fielder is third at best.

| I think that Wright would have been automatic or close to automatic already if the Mets even took one game from that phillies series this weekend. I'd say it is Rollins' award to lose, but since Utley and Howard and Rowand are prominent players on a surging team, it could split the votes. |

| the voting is done right when the season is over correct? if so...id take wright as NL mvp but if the phillies make the playoffs then rollins no question ARod for AL peavy for cy young in the NL and id have to wait to see how the season finishes for the AL...it my opinion its between beckett and wang and these final games can decide who gets it. |

| Pretty consistant to put up the numbers he ended up with in May and get them to where they are today after one whole month of doing nothing to start the season.

As for Rollins, I don't see how it is his to lose. He leads Wright in runs, triples and steals which is what you'd expect for a one hole hitter. However, he lacks the OBP and the walks from that spot. You can say that his lack of walks doesn't hurt his runs scored but then that would seem to be a credit to the guys hitting behind him. On the plus side, some of his other numbers are typical of a three hole hitter, however, he is a little short in the RBI department. In sum, he has many of the numbers expected of a one hole hitter but not all of them, and many numbers expected of a three hole hitter but not all of them. Wright, on the other hand, has enough runs scored, enough walks, enough steals, a high enough BA and a high enough OBP of what's expected from a one hole hitter and has all the expected numbers of a three hole hitter. So, when anyone talks of how amazing it is that Rollins has over 80 RBI from the one hole( to be fair, he hit 3rd a lot when Utley was out), I can easily point out how amazing it is that Wright has so many steals, runs and walks, etc, from the three hole. Finally, factor in the CBP v. Shea difference and it's not close.

| That should be a huge factor, but I don't know for sure that the voters will consider it.

| Matt Holliday leads the league in hitting and RBI. Sure, he plays at Coors Field, but unlike some of his predecessors who put up gaudy numbers, Holliday hits over .300 on the road. His team is sniffing the playoffs for the first time in quite some time. If the Rockies have a miracle and get in, he get it hands down, in my opinion. If the Rockies don't make it, I hope he is in the top 3. I don't think many expected Morneau to get it last year, so who knows... |
