| FWIW... http://www.metsblog.com/ ...posted by Matthew Cerrone... …here’s are two stories you may find interesting… In 2005, the White Sox led the AL Central by 10 games on September 7, like the Mets, this season, who led the Phillies by six on the same date. The White Sox then lost 10 of 14, shrinking their lead to just one game over the Indians as late as Sept. 24. The White Sox were World Champions just two weeks later. Last season, the Cardinals were up seven games over the Astros for first place in the NL Central on Sept. 18. The Cardinals lost 10 of their final 14 games, and won their division by just one game over the Astros. As you are painfully aware, the Cardinals were World Champions just two weeks later. …this doesn’t necessarily make me feel any better about the Mets current situation, but it’s a nice reminder that when you least expect it, when all seems lost, some really strange things can happen in baseball…

| Hopefully the Mets will beat out the Braves by one game this year.

| White Sox had the best pitching staff in baseball. Cardinals were just a fluke that faced a **** scared newbie team that couldn't get out of their way. Teams that usually stumble and win are good and complete teams. We aren't because we have a terrible bullpen comprised of people with NO big game experience and success. Not one of these guys is a 'winner'. That is the problem. That's why last year is the exception, not the rule. |
