| the Mets back into the playoffs and go out in the first round, does Willie keep his job? I could truly see a Buck Showalter/NY Yankees scenario working out here.

| This year we have seen that the relationship between Omar and Willie is not as strong as once thought. Say what you will about Omar's trades and moves but at the end of the day Mets had an almost 7 game lead in division and on paper was thought to be best team in NL all year. Someone will have to pay for this collapse and that someone is Willie. If Mets make playoffs I think Willie stays if they dont then he is gone. |

| I think Willie is here next year even if we don't make the playoffs. Willie will be put on notice, it the team fails to make the playoffs next season, then he will be fired. I would be shocked if he is fired before next season.

| Willie will keep Job no matter what happens...Next year he will probably need to PRODUCE... Now, Omar should ALSO be reprimanded by Wilpon for NOT ADDRESSING THIS $HITTY ASS BP at DEADLINE and GIVING SHOECRAP and MOTA the deals he did....it was clear that the BP it wasn't ANY GOOD then and did NOTHING..! |

| Senior Member | I'm shocked that no one is mentioning the fact that there might be an even bigger collapse in the works.

| Bingo. Gagne blew FOUR games already and the old 14.5 game lead for the sux is now 2.5. To be fair, there's been no Manny for September and blah blah blah, but still, that's brutal. And yes, it IS on their manager for reasons I won't get into. The only reason, however, they won't jump a bridge is because they have a guaranteed playoff spot after like 3 wins and/or 1/2 tiger losses. Whereas if we lose the division, we might not have a post-season. But I do agree, it would be an EPIC disaster if they blew that division lead. By the way, wasn't our lead on Philly once like 11 games? I recall they came to shea a while back and swept us. I THINK they were 11 or so back to start that, so I didn't take 'em seriously. Does anybody remember that? |
