Ok, here's the deal.

After the Mets last choke streak (the four-game series loss to the Phillies, and five game losing streak)... where the Phils ended up 2 games back of the division, with the Braves series coming up in Atlanta, I decided to step back from the game for the weekend, and just let the games play out, and not get so emotionally wrapped up in everything... because I was convinced the Braves would sweep them too... and the division would be lost...

I went back to MLB.com after taking three days off, and saw that the Mets had, in my "absence," swept the Braves, beating Smoltz and Hudson in the process, and had built their division lead back up again... a pleasant surprise, to say the least.

So, seeing how my presence in watching these games live and posting here on this board daily has them once again on the brink of coughing up the division lead again... I will now bite the bullet, save the Mets season, and allow them to win again by once again depriving myself of any knowledge of the next three/four games.

I wanted to bore you with all of this tripe only because I want TOTAL credit if they turn it around in the next few days. Remember me, and remember my incredible sacrifice here, boys. The likes of me and my MUSH-KILLING awareness and heroic response will not be replicated again in our lifetimes.

Enjoy the upcoming winning. I will check back in on Saturday morning, when all is well again.

And remember, I get credit. The Mets will have done nothing. All me.

And if this really comes to pass, I WILL be accepting cash donations to miss the NLDS ($1,000) NLCS ($3,500), and World Series ($4,605.75) - Start saving up, folks.

Have fun with that.

It should be a real trip deciding between the Yanks and the Phils in the 2007 World Series. That is the apocalypse.

For too many years, our Mantra was "Anybody but the Braves or the Yankees".

sigh...

I'm going to make a sacrifice as well. On Thursday, I got a new black Mets hat from lids.. Ive been wearing it, and they haven't won since. As of today, that hat is officially out of the rotation for the rest of the season. I'm going back to my blue doubleheader hat, and we'll see what happens.

It's all my fault. I wore my Wright jersey for the first PHillie game, and the team has tanked since then. I don't know whether to put the jersey at the bottom of my pile, or just burn it.

I put on my Shipyard brewery shirt with Joshua Chamberlain (of Gettyberg fame) on the back. I was screaming "HOLD THE LINE" as I put it on thinking about the Mets game tonight.

Thank god no one was home at the time.

I shaved off my goatee last friday morning. I had last shaved on the Thursday of the last Phillies series.

As of this morning, the goatee is starting to grow back.
