| Williams and Lawrence are basically the same thing, but it's worth a shot. http://www.rotoworld.com/content/pla...aspx?sport=MLB Mets purchased the contract of LHP Dave Williams from Triple-A New Orleans. Williams is likely to be released or non-tendered after the season, but maybe he can make a modest contribution first. He'll pitch in middle relief. Mets designated RHP Brian Lawrence for assignment. The Mets were obviously counting on more from Lawrence than the 3 1/3 innings he threw against the Nationals last night. He had a 6.83 ERA in six starts for the Mets this season.

| Super Moderator | Yeah, like DiFeces and his "pennant chase" experience, which really consisted of being the 26th man on the roster for the 2000 Cardinals...

| I'm surprised they didn't call Adkins up for the bullpen. He can't hurt them anymore than some of the guys they have there now and the guys in the pen are getting worn out. What's wrong with Humber, last night's start should have went to him. Lawrence unfortunately didn't have any good outings, it looked like batting practice, I'm sorry to say he looks like he's finished. |

| Again, why are we going with a six man rotation when we have clinched nothing? Last quote I saw, Pedro said he was just doing what the team told him to do. I am sure if we wanted him to go on regular rest he would be all for it.

| Always smart to have prospects who you value SO LITTLE, while you save them as chips, you throw our AAAA bums in their place. Very good. This all but washes out any potential value Humber/Mulvey could have. I mean, they are 22-24 now and are not good enough, in Omar's eyes or Willie's, to replace a guy who throws 83 mph with a 6+ era and another guy who NOBODY wants. Not even the PHILLIES. Very good. Let's just trade Fernando/Guerra since they won't be able to crack the 2010 roster when Dmitry Young and Jamie Moyer are available. |

| Where's James Baldwin or Scott Erickson when you need them?

Williams or Sosa should have been named the long man a while ago. Sele can't even eat up innings or take one for the team when they're getting pummeled. And his buddy Percival did not want to take his spot too. Hindsight is 20/20, but that guy has helped the Cards a lot... | |
