| It's not unprecedented to pick up a spare part in September, even though that player would be ineligible for the postseason. Last season, the Tigers acquired Matt Stairs in September to replace the released Dmitri Young. The year before, the Red Sox brought in Mike Stanton from the Nationals just for the final weekend series against the Yankees. Does anyone else here think that the Mets should consider picking up some sort of righty reliever off some team out of the race? I'd be happy picking up any retread who has a prayer of at least making sure that Sosa's arm doesn't fall off as he tries to bridge the huge gap between Feliciano/Heilman/Wagner and the rest of the pen. I'd also have interest in another starting pitcher if El Duque is expected to miss much more time. I know the Mets can't pick up a real difference maker, but anything would be better than throwing Mota and Lawrence out there again, and it looks like the pennant race will be decided by only a couple of games.

| I support that trade, but I think we should throw in Mota to sweeten the deal.
