Default And now the Willie whispers begin...

http://www.metsblog.com/2007/09/18/n...ntal-solution/

In a report for MLB.com, Marty Noble quotes an anonymous Mets player as saying…

“We play at the temperature of the manager. I know Willie cares a lot, but he’s not showing it much.”

wonder who this could be.

McGimpy sometimes lets out a cry or hissing sound.

During the rare times the McGimpy goes down to the ground (such as to change trees for food), it moves very slowly.

quite frankly, they need at least seven well-pitched innings from john maine more than they need a speech.

but this is disturbing in any case.

You are right - where are the leaders on this team? This is a like a ship with a broken rudder.

Someone who isn't starting I'd bet.

I've done my share of defending Willie here from the lunatics, but I think I'm at the point where I'll just throw my hands up in the air.
  • I don't get the man-crush for Mota, ESPECIALLY after his continuous implosions.
  • I don't understand why Willie won't use Humber in a relief role because "he's a starter and you don't want to do that to a kid" but then you don't start him, AT ALL.
  • If someone is in his ear telling him that these pitchers in the BP can go 2+ innings, he needs to realize that they can't. If he's doing it on his own then he needs to get his **** together.
  • Reyes needs to realize that happy fun time on the beisbol field is over. There is a time to dance and sing and a time to play like a competent baseball player.
  • LoDuca. stop. You're not scaring anyone and you're hurting your team.

No doubt, it is one of the team's problems in 2007. There is simply nobody to stand up and take the bull by the horns, and light a fire under the team's ass.... maybe even give the John Belushi speech from Animal House, and that includes the manager. Not a good situation at all.

I totally agree with all of your points. One thing that is very frustrating is Reyes reaction to his slump. Always a smile, laughing, dancing... whatever. He needs to stop acting like he is 12, and man up, and take the rest of this season, and the rest of his career a bit more seriously.

Maybe if Reyes stopped with much of that nonsense, he could spend a little more time focusing on a game plan when he comes up to the plate, which he seems to have none of right now. I like Reyes a lot, and I still feel he is one of the keys of this team. How many times have we said, as Reyes goes, so does this team ? It is certainly one of the reasons why the Mets are in trouble right now.

I agree 100%. How can you say You can't use Humber in Pen when all you have to do is look a Jabba in the Bronx?

I am tired of Willie complete mis-management of pen.

Reyes needs to find himself on the bench. Everyone says Reyes needs to learn from Castillo and I think he has cause all he hits is weak pop ups to LF but the errors and the bone head stealing 3rd with 2 outs is just too much. Sit him cause right now he is killing us.

maybe I haven't been watching closely enough, but I don't think he's done that in weeks. he looks fairly sullen out there pretty much all the time.

Not true. I am not sure if he was that way or not last night, as I was too pissed off on the game to watch Reyes attitude. However, he did it as recent as over the weekend, and at least a few times last week as I recall.

I'd suspect it has more to do with Joba Chamberlain's 98 mph fastball and 93 mph hard slider vs. Humbers 93 mph fastball and 89 mph so-so curve.
