| The Mets are looking at these Right-handed hitters to replace Easley. Who would you prefer to be on the team? |

| Conine's my choice he's still a solid hitter who has come up big in October in the past. Cairo's thankfully no longer an option from Rotoworld:Cardinals signed infielder Miguel Cairo to a minor league contract and assigned him to Triple-A Memphis. The only surprise here is that GM Walt Jocketty didn't go ahead and give him a two- or three-year deal. Cairo, who played for the Cardinals from 2001-03, should be up in September to serve as a utility infielder. |

It's just a question of cost. How about Mota?

| maybe I don't fully understand the strategy as to who you block and who you let clear if you're any given team, but that's honestly a little surprising. perhaps many teams are hoping to trade for him, so there's sort of an unspoken collusion not to put in a claim. |

He'd be great fit IMO as THE righty bat off the bench, AND back-up 1B.

| Super Moderator | I'd do this TODAY, but I'm sure the Reds won't. I think they would take a middling prospect, or an Anderson Hernandez type. Geez. I like Omar, but he, IMO, hasn't had a banner year. As someone pointed out, if he were a stock, he'd be "down" right now. That Mota contract was bad back then, and it is has come home to roost now. I'd be afraid as to what HIS idea would be of getting a RH bat for the bench (I'm glad Cairo is off the market)...and I want no part of Fernando Tatis here. |

| The snooze says AH will be sent down before tomorrow's game and a righty bat added. So unless they trade for Conine or Piazza I expect that bat to be Tatis.

I'm sorry, but if that is the case, you gotta start wondering about Omar (knowing that many have wondered about him already)...

Until we know for sure, you can't make a blanket statement like "you've gotta start wondering about Omar"...

| I dunno... the mota deal was bad, but it seems almost everyone they've brought in to replace yet another injury has contributed, and that's a testament to the depth omar has built. to me that's the most impressive thing about the mets this year. if this were like three years ago, this team would have been buried under all these injuries. |

| All I know is Omar needs a competent righty bat before Sept 1st otherwise we'll go into the playoffs with a gaping hole. I'd have faith in Piazza or Conine coming off the bench late in a game. Ambres and/or Tatis wont cut it.
