| Anyone else just blown away that the Giants' record is WORSE than the friggin' Washington Nationals? With that pitching staff that includes Zito, Lincecum and Cain? Amazing. Not to mention the money they gave Zito. Ouch. The Marlins also, as of this minute, are in danger of falling into last place, behind the Nationals tonight. Wow. And the Dodgers collapsed? When the eff did that happen? Not that as Mets fans we should complain... the Mets have done pretty well against Arizona, both the past few years, and historically in the playoffs. And we can't write off the Rockies just yet, either. They've got some nice young talent out there. Should be an interesting NL West race this year. Meanwhile, the Cubs and the Brewers are doing their best to let the Cardinals back in the race. We think we're frustrated, and he're the Cubs and the Brewers in a horse-race, and each losing four in a row. We'd be beside ourselves. Strange how things have shaken out in the NL this season. If only the Mets could make the NL East a little less exciting going down the stretch.

| Senior Member | I'm glad Florida passed on Manny Acta for Gonzales. He's doing his thing with a lot less to work with... And the NL West collapses every July when ESPN puts a big feature about it's supposed resurgence on it's front-page. It's like the new media version of the SI curse... |

Once Barry is out of there, the circus ends, and Sabean will be able to GM the way he wants, free of the Bonds albatross. But really, no excuse on the Zito signing. That was lame. And will probably end up being one of the biggest busts of the modern era. I mean, besides Pavano and Dreifort. At least Zito is actually PITCHING for his money. If that's what you want to call it.

| He'd probably have to trade 3 players, including a stellar closer and a top pitching prospect, for a run-of-the-mill, clubhouse-cancer catcher. I'd bet he'd get canned if he made a move like that. |

| Hey, pally. No using of my catchphrases without ponying up the dough. I wanted Zito, but thought the SF price WAS ridiculous at the time. My "Omar needs to do his job" thing was more about him having a fall-back plan to losing out on Ziti. So far, it's worked out pretty well, considering the starting pitching is the least of the team's problems (well, up until Maine and Perez started turning into pumpkins)... But I'll cut Omar some slack, until the Braves catch them. ![]()
