Default Chnaged my mind about Castillo

Scrappy and hungry player we so desperately need, energy-wise.

Gotta be the game MVP tonight in our most important game this year.

Super solid D at 2B.

Gotay on bench makes our bench MUCh better.

I still don't understand how anyone could have a problem with the trade in the first place. We gave up 2 low level prospects for a gold glove 2B with a light but consistent stick. Castillo is by far the best option for the 2 hole. Even if Castillo stinks here on out, we let him walk at seasons end and pick up a nice draft pick.

Castillo is hitting .344 since joining the team. Love how people were so quick to give up on him after two games.

The anger towards Castillo had more to do with Gotay losing his role as a starter than it had to do with Castillo himself. I wouldn't really say that anyone "gave up" on Castillo, per se, it was more annoyance that another kid was getting blocked by what seemed to be an over-the-hill vet.

I'd still love to see Gotay get some PT in RF.

And most of the mocking of Castillo was not about Castillo but about the over the top schilling that the TV guys were doing.

I was annoyed to see Green in RF last night, and look what he did......

I agree. I never saw the big problem with the deal. Even if he ends up sucking...we didn't really give up anything for him.

Castillo deal was a no brainer we gave up nothing, but I hope we're not proclaiming him the next 2b for the next few years either.

Two games? In the first IGT he was already being given the Tammy Tampax treatment.

Well I guess that combined with the feletto that the SNY hosts and announcers were giving him.

Let's throw a .344 in eight games party.

Gotay was hitting .352 in 20+ games. Nothing was given up to get him so in that sense getting Castillo was a no brainer but I dont like the fact that Gotay has been buried and if Omar gives Castillo a 3 year extension I'll really hate the deal.

McGimpy sometimes lets out a cry or hissing sound.

During the rare times the McGimpy goes down to the ground (such as to change trees for food), it moves very slowly.

anyone want to bet that Anderson, Gotay, Easley or Hernandez are IN position to get that double play ball in the ninth?

I did not like the trade but sans Valentin, Castillo does give the Mets a major defensive edge where there would have been a huge liability.

I like Gotay, but he has to work on his defense. Especially double plays. So in that sense, I like having Castillo aboard because down the stretch in a close division race is not the time for Gotay to learn. I'd rather have a set of sure hands turning double plays, like last night in the 9th. Then, if Castillo walks, Gotay has the offseason and spring training to work the kinks out of his defense.
