Default Pedro update

From today's MetsBlog.com:

Quote:
08:52 AM - Note: Pedro to Start on Wednesday

...posted by Matthew Cerrone...
Pedro Martinez will make his first minor-league rehab start on Wednesday for the St. Lucie Mets against the Lakeland Tigers and 20–year-old OF Cameron Maybin.

…the buzz from st. lucie is that a) pedro feels great, following a 67–pitch simulated game last week, and b) he is now ready to open it up a bit, work his fastball more, and get in to game mode, which i guess he did not do in the simulated game…

…by the way, from what i understand, martinez is on the team’s 25–man roster now, and whether on the disabled list or not, he is eligible for post-season even if he is not activated before september 1…so, there is no rush for that reason…if there is a rush, though, it’s because the Mets would like to get pedro at least five or six major-league starts if he is to help out during the playoffs, assuming the team gets to October…as it is, if pedro makes four minor-league starts right now, and has no set backs or misses a day, he will be back by the end of this month, leaving him the roughly five to six desired starts in september with the Mets…one more delay, though, and that number starts to dwindle…

You are an ass, Bill.

He's on the major-league disabled list. Players on the major league disabled list are NOT on the team's 25-man roster. Metsblog is wrong, as are you.

I read that during his simulated start that he was throwing between 85-88. Is there any chance that improves now that he can "open it up" as the article stated?

Does it really matter? He was winning games with his 88MPH fast ball.

Does he really need 4 minor-league rehab starts?

Interesting - no mention of Pedro, there. I guess the team's official website is wrong, right Bill?

Asshat.

Asshat.
Maybe when you grow up you'll be able to disagree on a topic without the juvenile name-calling.

If you don't want to understand the difference between the 25-man DL and the 40-man DL, that's your privilege.

Maybe you can explain why Pedro and Burgos, BOTH of whom are on the DL, are not both eligible for P-S if activated after Sept 1.

Or maybe you'd rather just do more flaming.

I just showed you the 25-man roster. Please do point out to me where it says "Pedro Martinez" or "Ambiorix Burgos" on that list. I anxiously await your response.

I'm sorry but does anyone really give a sh*t? Was bill really trying to tell me that if Pedro's rehab went well and was back to his old form the Mets wouldn't be able to find a way to get him on the playoff roster? Really?

No, Neil--just the opposite.

As I already said, if you don't want to understand the difference, that's your privilege. I'm done here.

You're the one that doesn't understand the difference - when proven wrong, you say "I'm done here." That's nothing new.

There's a 25-man and a 40-man. The 25-man is ONLY ACTIVE PLAYERS. A player on the 15-day major-league DL is on the 40-man but not the 25-man. A player on the 60-day DL is not counted as being on either.

Why is it so difficult for you to admit you're wrong on this? There's no question or interpretation, or semantics analyzation needed. YOU ARE WRONG.
