Default MLB.tv

I'm from NJ and I was wondering if a computer savvy person could give me some "tips" via PM on making MLB.tv operate better so to speak. I already get the gist of what trick to use, I could just use some pointers from someone who has been doing it a while.

Best tip: Build a time machine, and go back to years when the service was GREAT. Every year I buy it, and the last two years have just been horrific.Way too browser picky thanks to all their FLASH reliance, much more delayed than it used to be with REAL networks, and good luck with MLB Mosaic. I had to uninstall it as that swarmcast software that comes with it practically killed my network for the day.

yeah, I don't know what they did... but they've made it progressively crappier. maybe they had to change the technology as many more people started using their service. who knows. (it would also be nice if they didn't tell anyone who doesn't use IE to go **** themselves).

While you're back there, put a few thousand for me on the Cardinals to win it all last year.

Ah, what I'm getting at here, is a trick having to do with a proxy. And if someone has a good reliable source of them, PM me please.

It will never work. I believe we had a thread on this last year. I think they go by credit card billing address first, then by IP address. If you can actually pass that, a proxy COULD work... but I think it would be choppy as hell due to the lack of speed, and not worth the time, honestly.

Now, there might be a way around it otherwise... but I don't know what it is. Before they moved to flash, all you had to do was pick your blacked out game, then pick a different teams game, then hit back... and you were in. LOL

Once they figured out people were doing that, they've safeguarded the **** out of the thing.

Instead, why not just put a hit out on Wainwright?

Maybe I am in the minority but I actually think MLB tv is a great service. Whenever I have problems it is because of my connection (which is spotty at times) but if I am at my gf's with a much more reliable connection the game streams perfectly. Granted there is a bit of a delay which makes it harder to follow the IGT since it will usually ruin a big hit for me or something like that but you can't expect it to be the same as TV. That said, it does seem the delay is worse than it was a few years ago but nothing horrible. I can't comment on the Mosaic thing since I never use it but I have heard it is bad from other people as well so I will not argue with it. Personally I applaud MLB for offering something that really caters to the hard core fans that are out of market. They are light years ahead of the NFL and NBA on this.

I've had on and off problems with the service in the years I've had it, and the lag times on some of the games/condensed games in the hours directly after they're posted drives me batsh*t at times, but, I'm extremely pleased to have the service available to me as an out-of-town Mets fanatic. And the archives of past year's games is really awesome.

Don't get me wrong. I think it's a great service. The fact that I can the whole season for $100 is great. The NBA is way behind on this, and they're losing fans left and right... my only beef is that the product has not improved at all since I started buying it back in 2004.

Same here. I'm not sure it hasn't regressed since 2004, though.

The connections have been spotty at best for a lot of people lately, and I'm positive that it isn't an ISP or connection thing. I don't know how much worse showing every Bonds (and Arod for awhile) AB has made it, but it sure hasn't helped. They did it for Glavine the other night as well, as if someone on the planet doesn't have ESPN...

I will say that it has regressed in many of the basic areas. They tried a little too hard to make up for it in other spots such as the 700k stream and mosaic attempt, rather than PERFECT the basic 400k stream, Condesnsed games, and highlights first.

Spaking of, anyone else getting pissed off that whenever you watch a game highlight, the sidebar leaves the game page, and goes to the "Best of the day" crap? Hello, I'm trying to watch the highlights from this game for a specific reason... stop trying to force me other teams!

Well that's the thing, the proxy does work for me for whatever reason, depending on the proxy (some work, some don't). The best one I found so far was in Led's neck of the woods but wasn't consistantly good. So I was curious if anyone knew of a site that lists some more reliable, closer ones. Canada perhaps, or simply a different state.
