Default How many career wins will Glavine get?

I say he wins 5 more this year and 10 next year, giving him 315 for his career.

Guess it depends on how much longer he feels like pitching. I wouldnt be surprised if he hangs it up after the season.

I'll take the over and go with 6 more wins this year.

I think getting passed the milestone should really be a relief for him and the team and maybe guys can stick to basics while he's on the mound, not trying to do too much to ensure his next win.

The team didn't seem to be pressing while Glavine was on the hill. If the pen didn't just plain suck they would have won his last start. I think he'll end up 317.

OT but I finally saw 300 last night (I saw Kid A's avatar) and it was really good but it wasn't that bloody. I thought Sin City was much more violent. But it was still a damn good movie.

I think the most important stat that Glavine can get at this point is adding some more post-season wins.

Exactly. He's got about 10 regular season starts. 5 Ws, followed by 3 more in the P-S (1 DS, 1 CS, 1 WS), is what should be a nice cap to the season and his career.

I agree (or more like hopeful) about next year.

Perhaps 3-5 more wins... and 2 well pitched P/S games, and one crapfest...

I think now that he's got the 300, he'll either go completely in the tank, or tear it up for the rest of the season. Depends on how the release of "pressure" hits him now.

I don't expect either extreme. He's a real pro, and wants to go out a winner, hopefully with a ring. The Offense (and pen) will decide his W/L.

From today's MetsBlog:

Lastly, Glavine, on the significance of 300, while talking to reporters after last night’s game…

“It’s a huge accomplishment, obviously, on a personal note, but I sure would like to end this year with another World Championship to go along with it.”

I like Tommy to retire with 305 after this year and a ring, provided their are no Suppan's or Weaver's waiting to ambush the Mets...

Glavine really hasnt had his "half" that he's been famous for since becoming a Met so I say he tears it up down the stretch here and gets his season ERA just under the 4 mark.

As for next year....I really dont know yet. If my gues comes true, I wouldnt mind him coming back as a #5 for another year. Nothing wrong with a pitcher who can deliver 200 innings, 30+ starts, and a 4 era from the back of the rotation.

As to whether or not he even plays another year...I think that will be determined down the stretch and into the playoffs. One thing is pretty clear, the only place he'd be pitching is in NY (since I think the Braves made it pretty clear they didnt want him back during the offseason).

I could definitely see Glavine bear down on his business and go on a tear for the rest of the season. I think Glavine will be more than relieved to be able to go back to his normal business without the pressure of reaching 300 wins constantly hanging overhead out on the field and with the media.

I think the team pressed to score runs for him (aside from the dodger game), not stating anything based on the Brewers game...maybe its something maybe its not, but I do think 6 wins in 10 starts is totally doable, if he has begun his "1/2 season tear" as MrHat has put it.
