Default Mets-Cubs IGT 8/5 - 300 Attempt II

Tommy G takes the mound against Staten Island's finest Jason Marquis in his second attempt at 300.

Lineups to follow.

I almost don't want to get him for the selfish reason that I'll just buy a ticket for Saturday night and see him do it at Shea.

Wow, I just noticed that Philadelphia scored 5 in the ninth to tie Milwaukee, and then 2 in the 11th to win. That sucks. If the Mets lose tonight they lose ground to both Atlanta and Philadelphia, making this a decently big game going into the Atlanta series.

LGM!

I'll be there on Saturday either way, and while I'd love to see him do it I'll be even happier to see it tonight on the "big stage" of National TV.

Besides, all logic says that Lawrence should be skipped, making Glavine's next start on Friday night.

Yeah won't it be great? Joe Morgan never shutting up, but really saying nothing, Maybe he'll again claim that 22 year old Joe Smith grew up watching the Big Red Machine. I'll look at the bright side poor Jon Miller won't be able to talk too much about Bel-TRON as he's not playing .

Hit "mute" and turn on WFAN. As long as you can stand the 3-second delay.

I can stand the delay it's Tom McCarthy I can't take.

Then only do the "mute" thing when Howie is on.

Unless you hate Morgan more than McCarthy.

Huge game...keep our division lead in tact as it was entering the day, momentum into the ATL series, Tommy's 300 and a 4-2 roadtrip. This is all great, but we gotta win first. BTW, does everyone else think of this place and laugh when the "I hear Lofton's getting traded again" commercial comes on?

A host of pitchers shown in the opening "300 winner montage": two Yankees... no Seaver. Love ESPN. Love it.

Morgan: "In order to win 300 games, you have to have two things: consistency and durability. Tom Glavine has both."

Thank f*ck for that, huh, Joe? Otherwise, I guess he would be stuck on 299 forever.
