Default Bonds stuck with 2 HR to go

Anyone else here enjoying the fact that Bonds has been stuck with 2 HR to go for quite a while now?

I know it won't last, but I'd love to see this drag on for another month or two.

I keep hoping that something will happen to stop him, but I'm resigned to the fact that it's going to happen.

People will know what the real record is, no matter what the books may say.

Well maybe they'll push the indictments up a month!

yup - but his last HR before that was July 3rd

ESPN is on the Bonds watch 24/7. It is annoying.

I can never enjoy somebody not annihilating the Braves. I hope he hits three tomorrow in a Giant win and we never have to hear about this crap again...

Imagine that, a Sports network watching a record fall, who would have thunk it.

Yes, it's real exciting watching 15 minutes on the sports news about how Bonds didn't play last night.

That's an easy one, since I am part time media for autoracing.

What is this WNBA you speak of?

That town meeting crap they had yesterday was classic ESPN overkill, and that's why a lot of people really don't care anymore...

Yeah though it was funny watching Dusty Baker get all pissed (I just saw the highlights). He was essentially responding to a guy who said that everyone in baseball was to blame. Dusty was saying that how was he to blame, he had no clue what the guy was doing when he left the stadium each day. Classic. So let me get this straight, you weren't supposed to know, a guy who saw Bonds every single day, but Bud Selig whose office is thousands of miles away was supposed to be able to tell. Makes sense to me.

I think you missed the subtley of Dusty's point. Here was this press hack suddenly trying to say "lets all share the blame" and I think rightfully so Baker was subtley throwing it back it him. And the response he was given I think proved that, "you don't see him getting bigger, hitting better, more home runs."

That has been my biggest problem with the press in all of this. From Buster Olney to Mike Lupica to Chris Cotter for heaven's sake. The press covered McGwire and Sosa like it was the greatest show on earth, and the papers were selling selling selling, and the TV commericals were flowing and everyone was making money. Then Bonds comes along only three years later and it is suddenly eyebrow raising?

Yeah but the guy from the press was saying that everyone including the press was to blame as well.

I will agree with your point though. A lot of the people in the press who are all over Selig are the same ones who saw what he saw as well and in many cases had more access to the players than Selig had and said nothing. I personally think Selig gets a lot too much blame for this.

It is a little to late for that in my opinion, but frankly they are getting away with it a tad. At this point they are more or less angry that fans sort of do not care about this homerun chase, because well, they can't get any benefit out of covering it. Bonds run at Aaron should have been met with a giant resounding echo of silence.
