Default ESPN Insider: Braves close to acquiring Teixiera

Quote:
News: Texas and Atlanta are close to a deal that would send Teixeira to the Braves for a package of players that would include Jarrod Saltalamacchia, the Braves' official web site reports.

Spin: Jo-Jo Reyes and Elvis Andrus are two other names thrown out as possibly involved in a deal. While this is just a rumor at this point, Braves general manager John Schuerholz always seems to get a deal done at the trading deadline.
Say it ain't so

It doesn't change the Braves mediocre pitching. Give them A-rod for all I care. I'd only be nervous if they traded for say Johan Santana.

But where will they play Franco if they make this deal?

I doubt it is so.

Talk about cashing in on a player who had a good couple of weeks.....

I know he was a well touted prospect, but after a hot start, he's looked like crap for the last month or so.

I just read the article at Braves.com.

All it says is that they're in discussions and that said players would be involved. Of course ESPN jumps all over it like a fly to sh*t and says it's a "done deal."

Maybe it happens, maybe it doesn't, but the article they're referring says they're having discussion, which isn't news to me.

Which is another reason I don't think it will happen. Saltalamacchia will be the key to any deal they MAY make, but Jo-Jo Reyes??

Please.

I wonder if the Braves do this deal( I hope they don't) that Omar's ego drives him to make a big deal?

For sure, he'll start to complain like he did NY.

If this deal happens, that is quite a snag by the Braves.

The Braves can't score runs either. Teixeira makes them the favorite down the stretch pending what the Mets and Phillies do.

Yeah, until I read it in The Marketeer I'm not buying it.

Omar is alway out there looking for the big splash. Hell most of the small moves he ends up making come about because the big ones fall thru.

Do the Mets trade for Robo/Perez last year if the Oswalt deal hits first? I tend to doubt it even with the injury to Sanchez....at least not without making sure he can spin Perez for Linebrink beforehand.

Texiera would make that lineup pretty damn impressive.

But it probably won't happen, because the Braves never make trades.
