Default Would you go after the gnat for 2B?

Would you have any interest in trading for Eckstein and placing him at 2B?

The McGimpy does most things upside down: eats, sleeps (an average of 23 hours per day), mates, and gives birth. Because of the McGimpy's upside down life, many of the McGimpy's internal organs (liver, stomach, spleen, pancreas) are in different positions from other mammals. McGimpy sometimes lets out a cry or hissing sound.

During the rare times the McGimpy goes down to the ground (such as to change trees for food), it moves very slowly.

No, too expensive, no stick. You will probably get better offense from Gotay.

No reason to bury Gotay, the kid is doing well here.

Maybe. But not before November. And only if Gotay is not up to the job. 7 years ago we traded a good young player with problems on D because we needed an experienced vet for the P-S.

Let's not take a chance that Gotay could be the second coming of Mel Mora. Give him a full chance to win the job.

Aside from that one great season, Mora hasn't been anything spectacular...he's been a solid major league player, but not a superstar.

Very fair assessment.

That's just how I'd describe him. But in the last 4 seasons starting with '03, he's hit .317, .340, .283 and .274, with HR #s of 15, 27, 27 and 16. I wouldn't have minded having those for us.

Still, to say that player X might be "the second coming" of player Y seems to imply that player Y is a bona fide superstar. Mora doesn't qualify as such...

And to think that if Jose "Crazy Leg" Valentin hadn't finally fallen apart, Willie would still be trotting him out there, regardless of Gotay's performance.

That said, Gotay has earned his chance, and is making the most of it. He looked very sharp at 2B tonight, so the work he is doing with Sandy Sr., is starting to pay dividends.... and he is only 24.

THAT said, I would still pick up Loretta and have him platoon. Gotay, from the little seen, RH is his much weaker side. Loretta can play all IF positions as well.

Aside from the one monster season, Mora has been very steady, and very solid.

Nothing wrong with that.

Not at all saying there was...just disagreed with the statement and comparing (even if it was a hypothetical) Gotay to Mora.
