Default Piazza is catching again

http://www.sportsline.com/mlb/story/10263636

The A's had been back and forth about whether they would have him catch when he was activated - it looks like they've decided to have him catch again.

http://www.rotoworld.com/content/pla...rt=MLB&id=1772

On edit, Roto World corrects APs report and says Suzuki is actually catching... so I guess this is still unresolved for now.

The return of Mike to NY...

I heard Francessa opining gleefully about the idea of him being a Yankee yesterday...

Oh please lord let it come true...just what they need another lumbering washed-up DH.

Because the Yankees are now in desperate need of an aging bat who can't play his position.

I agree. This would be a desperate move to cheaply attempt to deflect from a floundering season....

But, given George Steingrabber's well known pulsing h@rd-on for former Met stars, I wouldn't be shocked at all.

So be it.

Piazza isn't going to help them, unless he is converting to a starting pitcher...

I'm very disappointed.

Jersey must be busy, he normally has a radar for these things.

His knees are bad, catching all those years. He can't take care of Steinbrenners issue (there ya go, SI!).

George is practically eating baby food again, if he watched the Bronx is Burning he might wonder what it is about and who the grumpy looking guy with funny sideburns is that they keep showing.

I think Bronx is Burning is poorly done.

Though John Turturro as Billy Martin... very good, IMO.

an oldie...but one of my favorites: (paraphrased form the original repoprt)

"A shaken Steve Phillips annouced today that Mike "Bambi" Piazza, Todd "Kiki" Zeile and Robin "thumper" Ventura had been placed on the DL, due to an unfortunate non-baseball incident. " i guess the big mistake was the match"...said Phillips, reporting from the Burn Unit at Mt. Sinai hospital, as he recounted the events..."Apparently, kiki had inserted the carboard tube inside Mike as usual and let their Gerbil, "Mr. Bixby: begin what they playfully called a spelunking session, but is more commonly known as felching. ...... when Mike uttered the safe word..."Show Tunes".. Kiki knew it was time to retrieve Bixby. Bixby, however , was unwilling to leave the cozy confines. ...Kiki then thought to light a match, hoping the small flame would entice Bixby.........

Phillips described to a hushed press room what happened next. it seems at though the match ignited a pocket of intestinal gas, which propelled a six inch flame from Mikes rectum.....igniting Kiki's hair and severley burning his face. Apparently the first explosion ignited gas further up mike, "bambi's intestine...aand when Ventura leaned in to see what was happening, a larger pocket of gas ignited... proplellng Bixby, out like a rocdent cannonball.....Ventura suffered a brken orbital bone around his left eye......Each man has been moved to the 30 day DL...Kiki Zeile with first degree burns, Ventura with a broken orbiatl bone and Piazza with burns to his rectum and some scarring.....Bixby is in "guarded" condition at the intensive care at the Lexington Avenue animal shelter, but is expected to pull through
