I'd tell you not to use the opposing team's message board as a source of info, but apparently this was discussed on Mets Extra. I'm guessing Sosa goes on the DL.

I also saw it on one of the Mets blogs:

The other thing is now they won't have to call up an additional pitcher to start for Sosa if Perez can go on Tuesday.

Ignore. I didn't realize until I dug further that he had a stiff back. God damnit...

Did he hurt his back doing the ball on the string trick? Where the hell is this injury coming from?

My guess is that it's about as real as Franco's "sore knee" and is a reason (excuse?) to start Pelfrey instead.

That ball trick had me rolling. It made me think of the "Could I get a little help" post.

Wait, I don't get it. Is Perez hurt? Why wouldn't they have Perez pitch tomorrow against a team that's actually a potential threat in the NL East and Pelfrey in Colorado against the crappy Rockies? What am I missing?

Perez has a sore back. Don't want to lose him for more than 2 days if he tweaks it pitching tomorrow.

Granted from what I've heard it's not as bad as it once was, but I really don't think Coors Field is the best place for Pelfrey to start to restablish himself on the major league level

I think this has more to do with the fact that it keeps Pelfrey from waiting too long between starts, because it's obvious he's the guy they want up there to spot-start, while giving Perez a few extra days of rest, which honestly, might not be the worst thing for him.
