| (was driving on business so had to listen on XM).kept on alluding to the thought that the METS could have played Thursday night, but they, THE Mets, called the game so they would be fresh for Friday's doubleheader.......I thought it was the Umpires that made the decision as to a game being played or not..........Am I wrong here?

| First of all, it was Willie's right to call the game and it was a great call. It rained heavily in NYC which would have delayed the start of the game significantly. In calling the game, this prevented the callup of Mike Pelfrey (can you imagine the tone of the series if the Phillies shelled Pelfrey as most teams had been doing). It also may have prevented yet another injury by having players play on a slick, wet field. Also, with the delay, the game would have ended in the early morning hours --1AM-2 AM, which would have meant that the team would have been pulling into Philly at 5AM-6AM for a day-night twinbill (not to mention that this would have been an awful game for fans at Shea who would have had to wait hours). Willie deserves all the credit in the world for cancelling this game. |

| Haha, poor Phils were hurt by injuries to their rotation. Now, as NPG told us - that's never a valid excuse and GOOD teams overcome. Maybe their stupid manager shouldn't have ticked of El Duque for game one. |

| I left the second game yesterday after the Mets batted in the 9th, and listened to the final out on XM in the car. Larry Andersen was repeatedly bitching about Duke conferencing with Wagner on the mound, as if it's illegal or something. "For crying out loud, why don't you just run the ball out to him and give him the sign for every pitch?" ****ing pathetic. But then again, what would you really expect from those losers?

| Championship calibre teams take advantage of a situation to make a statement. In much the way they took adavantage of the Mets awful play and subsequent slide to leapfrog into first place. THAT's what makes THEM the team to beat. |
