| He's cruised tonight, and in his last few games. If he starts Tuesday, on 3 days' rest: We don't have to juggle the roster to bring up Pelfrey (or someone else). Duque and the rest of our SPs get to go on their normal rest. Maine can start (on normal rest) in next Sunday's game leading into the break, with other SPs available in relief if needed. Unless there's some reason why Willie/Pete feel he can't go that soon, I'd do it. On another note, why is the Phils' 4th inning run "Earned"? If not for Duke's E, Bourn wouldn't have been on 3rd to score on the SF. From CBS Sportsline: Quote:

| Senior Member | Maine's already on pace to go at least 50 innings over his previous season high at any level. Maybe an extra day of rest won't mean too much in the whole scheme of things (mostly the playoffs), but why take that chance? Sure the team could get a W against the mighty Rockies, but as far as Maine is concerned there's nothing to be gained from it... |

| Just pitch Sele and be done with it, then if he gets bombed in the second bring in Character and see how bad it can get. There is something devilishly intriguing about watching Schoenewies pitch 6 innings allowing 23 hits and 16 runs |

For what it's worth, I agree with 15 Day. Start Sele and forget all the roster juggling bullsh*t. | |

| I'm sorry but you don't throw your ace on 3 days rest in July with a comfortable lead, in September in a close race? Sure heck in the playoffs you're more than willing to do that, but not in a game that means little in July. |

You're right--it would be Glavine on Sunday. And I also agree with starting Sele instead of bringing someone up/sending someone down. I'd still prefer Maine, though. And it'll be interesting to see if those here who are on the "must win now" bandwagon shift to the "it's a meaningless game in July" crowd.
