| 08:00 PM - Buzz: Pelfrey Next Week ...posted by Matthew Cerrone... …the buzz from new orleans suggests that Mike Pelfrey will not make tomorrow’s start for the Mets, instead, Orlando Hernandez and John Maine will pitch, while pelfrey will likely get the call next week in Colorado as the rotation will get pinched then due to tonight’s rain… |

| Mets.com says the rainout has delayed his recall as well. I guess it's possible he goes one of the other games and pushes everyone else back a day??? Still, it's stupid to call him up for tomorrow when he's not needed for tomorrow. All I know is, the rainout is a blessing in so many damn ways. Steaming temps, team's bullpen now gets two straight days of rest after being abused on Monday/Tuesday. Time to rock and roll. |

| Honestly, Pelfrey matches up well in either CBP or Coors as long as his fastball is on. Remember, he's got a sinking fastball, which induces ground balls. In extreme HR parks a guy like Pelfrey could have some success.

| Isn't it throwing Sele to the lions everytime he pitches? "Throw Sele to the lions" is a shorter way of saying, "Now pitching for the Mets, Aaron Sele, you may now randomly add +2/+4/+6 runs to the opposition's score on your scorecards."

| Senior Member | Dave Williams went 6.1 innings last night, so I'm not sure why he isn't an option? Seems like he can handle a decent work load right away, which is the one thing that's been killing Pelfrey all year. I'd be willing to bet that he can stretch 100 pitches out further... |

| Throwing Sele to the lions is a shorter way of saying "Shoenweis just got his limbs ripped off and is currently crawling around the mound on bloody stumps because the lions shredded him like an incriminating picture of Willie Randolph and Julio Franco"

As for Tuesday's game, there is one other possibility I thought of this morning. IF (I know that's another concept often difficult to grasp) either Maine or Duque has a relatively easy outing today, he could pitch on 3 days' rest on Tuesday. That would give each of the 5 starters one more start after today before the break, instead of one of them getting 8 or 9 days off between starts.
