Default No Wonder The Yankees Are Losing Again

I completely missed the return of Scuffles The Clown in the Colorado series.

"There's no excuse, that's the bottom line," Jeter said. "You're trying to be aggressive. We've been scuffling scoring runs, but in that situation, the ball is right in front of you. There's no excuse."

And confirmed last night by the Chemical Rocket:

"That's really our job, especially when the guys are scuffling a little bit at the plate - you're supposed to get it done," Clemens said."

This whole "scuffle" thing is total nonesense. Doesn't the word "scuffle" imply putting up some kind of fight?

You are correct:

scuf·fle 1(skfl)
intr.v. scuf·fled, scuf·fling, scuf·fles
1. To fight or struggle confusedly at close quarters.
2. To shuffle.
n.
A rough disorderly struggle at close quarters.

But since Jeter is a bit girly, maybe they mean this:

scuf·fle 2(skfl)
n.
A hoe that is manipulated by pushing or pulling. Also called Dutch hoe, scuffle hoe.

[Dutch schoffel, hoe for weeding, from Middle Dutch, hoe, shovel.]

Does your tri-state Ford dealer actually think Met fans are going to want to purchase cars with Derek Jeter advertising them on SNY?

So they have been battling then? Interesting, maybe even slightly ironic
