Default Must Win Tonight.

Must win. No doubt about it. If we cannot win with our ace on the mound, then there is really no hope in the coming Phillies series. If the Phillies pull ahead, this team will never recover.

This is not a must win at all.

What will bother me is if this offense continues spin it's wheels. Reyes has allowed 5+ runs in four straight starts.

That says it all.

the phrase that stuck in my head last night thinking about it was, "the dude's gotta win sometime."

Oh my God. The Cards pitcher Reyes is 0-and-effing-NINE.

If the Mets are the first team he beats, they really ought to crawl into a hole and die. That's how embarrassing that would be.

There is no such thing as an acceptable loss.

Obviously, the guy is due for a win and it sure as sh*t better not come at NYs expense.

BUT

IMO, the key for the Mets is to pound the piss out of him. If they lose cuz Glavine sucks, then we'll focus on that instead. What they cannot due is allow Reyes to pitch effectively after being bad in literally 80% of his starts this season.

Him getting a win is salt in the wound but the more troublesome aspect would be if they again don't hit this guy, win OR lose.

Ok, if Glavine loses to this reject, like, 3-1, don't you think that would be about time to start re-thinking this offense?

Yes, if they lose 7-6, or something like that, sure, blame Glavine, by all means. But they need to hit this guy. Another four-hitter would be utterly laughable.

Get him early, and often.

Yeah, that's what I said.

If they don't smack Reyes around, which doesn't mean 8 runs in three innings mind you, though that would be very nice, but they need to put runs up on the board early, then I'm going to have start wondering if this offense just isn't going to click this season.

Tom Glavine is not our ace anymore. John Maine has been the Mets best starter all season... That being said, Glavine seems like a good bet tonight although we still have the bullpen and the lack of offense to worry about.

Mets are 9-26 when they score three runs or less

Astonishing. With the players in this lineup, this team has scored three runs or less just about 50% of their games.
