Default The season will be decided by...

1) If Delgado, specifically, turns ir around. 0-23 with 2 outs and RISP over the last two months...

2) Who we cut. Addition by subtraction.

3) Who we get in a trade

As we are now, we won't win the division or a wildcard, UNLESS osama retunrs to some semblance of normalcy

I agree with all points except that the Mets won't make the playoffs.

They're still much better than either Philly or Atlanta and that will bear itself out as the season moves on, but if some of things you said don't occur, they won't get very far in the playoffs.

See this is where you get me pissed off. I have no problem with you thinking we will beat out Atl or Philly but to say we are "much better" after the last month is ridiculous.

Agreed. Can't say "much better" IMO. I'd say better than Atl. but the Phillies match up well with the Mets.

Mets really need to get rid of Schowenweis (DL him because of his frayed achillies or whatever he's got) and stop using Franco. The good clubhouse guys are not getting in done in the field AT ALL.

ah pick on the fantern because he is an easy target, the Mets could be two dozen games up Nick and you would still be fretting the fifth guy in the pen and the bat boys performance in the playoffs.

Every player, even HOF players, go through slumps and tough stretches. What disturbs me most about the Mets offense is that THE ENTIRE TEAM disappears for games on end. This is statistically improbable based on the historical numbers guys like Reyes, LoDuca, Wright, Beltran and Delgado have put up.

To me, this indicates some type of mental issue. When one or two players struggle, the whole offense falls apart. It's almost like an all or nothing offense, which if fine when you are blowing out the opponent 9-1, but you only get one win for that. Good teams pick each other up, and the Mets are not doing that for the most part (save Green's HR Monday).

The key to this season is Schowenshit.... when Willie stops putting him into close or tied ballgames, the Mets might havfe a better chance at going on a prolonged run

and of course...

One or both of Moling for Dollars and Nuevo Alfonzo has to step it up in the 2nd half.

At this point, our 3-4-5 project to under 90 hrs under 300 rbi and about a .265 BA. THAT is the why our offense sucks.

Even Green, with his occasional contributions projects to .285-16-62 over 500 AB's. Not exactly what the D.r ordered form a corner OFer.

Reyes, Lo Duca are the only ones pulling their weight lineup wise....

Also, some finger needs to be pointed at Randolph and Minays: how do they handle the Delgado catastrophe?

There arent a lot of palatable choices. He makes too much to trade him or buy him out. We have no one viable to replace him, so we cant bench him.

The ONLY thing they can do is drop him to 8 in the batting order and let him work his way back up. But are they willing to do that? Or will they just deer in the headlights/ostrich it and stick with him even if it ends up costing us the season. A normal delgado and we have at least 2-3 more wins this year.

And of course you come around alighting and flooding the forum with your usual crap when the Mets lose, but then are absent when they win. Just a few days ago you proposed major overhauls and prounounced that this was not a playoff team...
