Default If Pelfrey (or Humber or Lawrence) pitches Friday in Philly

Someone else must be DL'd or sent down to make room on the roster.

It could be Schoeneweis (I don't know if he'd have to clear waivers first), but that'd leave us one middle-innings LHRP.

Sele could be DFA'd. Then when Prelfrey goes back we'd have to bring someone else in.

Any other choices?

Either Gotay or Ledee will probably be sent down I'd bet.

But...but...he's a former Yankee and thus KNOWS how to win!!

Seriously I'm hoping Ledee goes down or Mr. Flinstone goes to the DL.

Call me crazy, but I don't think Schoeneweis will have any trouble clearing waivers if he has to. He's my choice to go down (and stay down).

Ledee has looked pretty good in limited time so far, I don't mind him.

Both possible, but that leave us with a bench of Castro (not available to PH), Easley, Franco, and whichever of those 2 stays.

Verrrry thin.

Would Schoeneweis get claimed if waived? Not likely, but if somebody wants him, let him go far a stick of baseball card gum

Best.

Case.

Scenario.

Literally a no-lose deal here.

Franco and that faux knee injury ( I say faux because he was hopping around pretty good during the Green HR pile at home plate) are prime candidates for the DL, if you ask me.

Schoeneweis could throw from both sides and what difference would it make, he can't get a lefty out to save his life without being down or up by half a dozen or more runs.

He is quite the character.

Schoeneweis is Minaya biggest FA mistake to date. He's making too much money to release. If Pedro comes back strong, I would release Sele and put Sosa in his spot.

But only for one game because whichever callup of Friday's game will be sent down right after the start. That way they can recall a guy like Ambres or Tracy to replace the pitcher on the roster.

Schoenweis has enough service time to become a FA instead of going down to AAA. If that happens the Mets are still on the hook for his salary until he's signed and then they'll only get the ML minimum back from his new team.

Let's just keep pretending that Schoeneweis was the token gesture that will land us a big Boras client in the future...
