Default Mike Piazza is open to coming back to the Mets

(when his career is over)

Kit Stier, of Oakland.Athletics.MLB.com, reports Oakland Athletics DH Mike Piazza, who had some of his best years with the New York Mets, would be open to a return to the team once he is done playing. "We'll see," Piazza said. "I just think those things have a way of occurring naturally. I don't want them to be forced."

Would like to see the 1 day contract invoked so he could announce his retirement as a Met.

Whew. you scared me with that title until I realized you meant other than as a player.

Then again I'd take him over Franco right now in a heartbeat.

I would take a rotting corpse over Franco. It would at least have a better disposition and can actually hit a ball hard...

Judging by Delgado's first base skills, he'd be an upgrade...come to think of it, so would his hitting.

This might be the stupidest play I've ever seen in professional sports. Thank God nobody in baseball does it.

That's a no brainer.

Actually the Stankees signed the great Jeff Nelson to a one day contract in the spring so he could retire as a Yankee.

Wow, I had no idea.

It's a retarded gesture. For example: no matter what Glavine does with the Mets, he'll always be remembered as a member of the Braves. They don't need to sign him for a day for him to be remembered there.

BTW, I hope Kid A didn't take offense to my first reply. I just really don't like this kind of crap. It doesn't mean anything, and does anybody really care?

Does signing a one-day contract affect what hat a guy wears in the HoF?
