| I personally don't think a suspension is warranted, but I figured one would come. Two is ridiculous though. Two games...for throwing equipment from the dugout. Please. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2916189 |

| Some of the decision of when Lo Duca serves his suspension should involve figuring out who will be sent down to add another catcher to the roster in Lo Duca's absence (assuming the Mets don't risk having only Castro for one game) and who will be called up to replace that extra catcher once Lo Duca is back, since whoever is sent down can't be recalled for 10 days unless there's an injury. Is it still possible for players to "finesse" when they serve their suspensions by appealing and then dropping the appeal right before the game(s) they prefer to miss?

| A side note to all of this is the absolute joke of an organization that MLB is when it comes to things like this. Derek Lee takes a Mike Tyson-like punch and gets five games. Chris Young counters with one of his own and gets five games...which actually amounts to one. Paul Lo Duca yells and then throws things onto the field from the dugout and he gets two games. Yeah...makes total sense. |

| From Pete Abraham's blog @ Journal News “I will talk with Bob (Watson) and hope to get it down to one game,” Lo Duca said. “I messed up. That’s the bottom line. I overreacted.” Lo Duca said he wants to resolve this before the Philly series. |

| Hey, it was worth it - the Mets haven't lost since his tirade.

| Was what Lo Duca did childish in throwing his gear on the field? Yeah. If it's part and parcel of the fact that he is always grinding and going full out to win, do you just suck it up? Yeah. I don't agree with what he did in regards to the equipment, but that's part of his "passionate" personality. Given how people were (rightly) unhappy with the lacksadasial play of the team recently, I'd be reluctant to start trying to pull in the one guy that's always firey. Maybe this was his boiling over from being one of the few guys to seemingly give a ****? It's that same attitude that had him in face of A-Rod and Giambi last year, on his own, through wanting to defend the dignity of his pitcher. If that kind of balls means he has the odd tantrum, I'll take it. |
