| The MEts are "obsessed" with the Yanks and now, not making the playoffs because they have slumped. Because...ya know....past playoff teams never had a bad two weeks. Ever. Davidoff is really getting into Wally territory now. I cant for the LIFE of me figure out why so many writers seem to just HATE the Mets. |

| I love how the rotation will return to their career avgs, but the lineup won't.

| We all agree that things look like ugly right now, but I am not ready to call it a season as of today ! I totally feel we will get to the playoffs. How far we get, is another story. Only time will tell. |

| I get the feeling he wants to be one of the first ones to jump on this because no one (except for maybe us) will remember or care if he's wrong, but if he's right he can say "as one of the first people [this year/last year/2 years ago/etc..] to recognize the Mets were going to miss the playoffs..."

| What worries me is the teams the Mets are going to be facing over the next few weeks. There is no margin of error whatsoever. It is very possible that at this time next week the Mets are no longer in first place in the division. In fact, the only reason the Mets still hold first place is because Atlanta has cr@pped the bed, too. But you can't count on them to suck forever. Also, it is very possible, and even probable, that the Mets will go into the Yankees series and get embarrassed. When your pitchers can't find the strikezone, the hitters in that lineup will have great days at the plate. The Yankees can be stopped by great pitching; we see it every year in the post-season. But with Met pitchers nibbling and running high pitch counts, disaster looms around every corner. Couple this with a cleanup hitter who can't wait for a pitch, and a number three hitter who wouldn't know a two out hit if one bit him on the @ss, you're in trouble. End of statement. And as far as the Yankees go, they've taken advantage of being matched up with the cupcakes. They are now just one game under .500. Have you seen the teams they face over the next six weeks? If that team is not ten over five hundred by the All-Star break, I'll be shocked. |

| the braves can't count on the mets sucking forever, either. Quote:
as an aside, I did enjoy M&MD's "if you're a mets fan, you're not worried" segment yesterday getting replaced by "if you're a mets fan, you should worry" today. | |
