Default I guess Lo Duca will never bat second again.

Well, we have the same lineup that we did at the beginning of the season except for one player who won't be back any time soon.

So with Green being a more than capable number 6 hitter, what the fu(k is Willie waiting for to move Duke back into the two hole?

does it REALLY make any difference right now?

Do we think LoDuca in the two hole will be a magic bullet for Beltran and Delgado to start getting hits with runners on base?

Gary and Ron were talking about how Reyes has been getting on more, but scoring less. This is definitely tied into the fact that whoever is hitting #2, has not been getting Reyes over, or getting any hits.

Green did ok last night, but he is better hitting 5,6,7 spots until the heart of the order actually shows some, well, heart.

No magic bullet but it will certainly help. I think a good number two hitter will make a pitcher work which makes a big difference. It seems when Duke is hitting second a pitcher will throw over to first way more simply because he'll see more pitches and foul more pitches off. A hitter who swings at the first pitch does Reyes no good.Reyes could score by accident with a solid number two guy.

Also, Duke's lack of power makes him no good for the six hole. He's not going to hit enough homers or doubles to drive Wright or Delgado in in front of him and when he gets on base we are counting on Gomez to drive him in.

He belongs in the two hole.

ya know, I like Beltran and Delgado, and will root for them to perform, but the number 2 hitter is barely a reason as to why Reyes is not scoring. He ain't getting stuck at first.

I don't understand why he was moved out of a spot in the lineup where it just clicked right all of last year and the beginning of this one. It doesn't make sense.

You are missing my point Denny, right now, unless LoDuca was batting second, third and fifth it would not matter.

If it wasn't broken, why try and fix it?

I totally agree.

Time to try this:

Beltran, Reyes, Wright, Green, Loduca, Valentine, Delgado, Gomez, P

You could put Lou Gehrig, Mickey Mantle, Harmon Killibrew, Willie Mays and Hank Aaron (in their prime) surrounding DelGarbage in the lineup and he's still going to fertilize the batter's box.

No #2 hitter saw fewer pitches per AB last year than LoDuca.
I think you're giving him credit for strengths he doesn't have.

Put Beltran 2nd if he wants to be stubborn about LoDuca

I believe this is known as the "Jose Reyes Effect"
