Default Ex-Bullpen Coach Vern Hoscheit RIP

FLUSHING, NEW YORK (TICKER) -- Vern Hoscheit, who served as the bullpen coach for the 1986 world champion New York Mets, died on Monday. He was 85.

Hoscheit was the Mets' bullpen coach from 1984-1987, retiring after his final season with the club.

Spending 47 years in professional baseball, Hoscheit played 12 minor league seasons with the New York Yankees organization.

Hoscheit served in a number of capacities in both the minor and major leagues. Among his most notable positions was as a member of the Oakland Athletics coaching staff from 1969-1974, a span in which the team won three consecutive World Series titles (1972-74).
