From ESPN Fantasy: According to one MLB team executive, the Mets would be "heavily involved" if the Cubs look to trade Zambrano, reports the New York Post. Zambrano is set to be a free agent after the season, and the Cubs could potentially deal him prior to the July 31 deadline. Is he hurt? Would it be wise to overpay for him at his lowest, when he could potentially be a bust this year and not resign?

I'd take him in a heartbeat. He's the only good pitcher on the Cubs and taking the heat for injuries and bad play of the rest of the team. Sorta like when Piazza first came here and he was surrounded by scrubs for the most part - he can't carry the entire team. He'd make us a lock for the division, if healthy.

| Senior Member | He's either hurt or an idiot, because his arm angle problem is eerily similar to Pedro's last year. So yeah, he's either pitching through it or too stupid to correct it. Even Dr. Rick can't solve these problems... And the Cubs have a lot more to gain by leaking this stuff than anyone else does. They have to be pretty distressed about all of this right now... |

I have to question Omar's sanity if he thinks he's a good fit here. He's overweight, won't have ANYTHING to motivate him after an 8 year deal and is pitching poorly. And he's uncontrollable and terrible for the clubhouse. Why not just wait for Santana? If we lose a good young player like Fernanco or Guerra, I'd never accept that.

We should have trade Kazmir for this Zambrano back in 2004! As far as trading for him now.... Well to be honest I am not to sure. Mets have to be interested and listen to offers but I wouldnt do anything stupid to get him. Luckily for us Omar's MO has been not to make stupid trades. Right now our starting pitching is solid and will only get better when Pedro returns.
