Default Interesting Game Notes

Quote:
A horse with new name: Now, listen up. Moises Alou is his name, has been his whole life. But this is not Moy-sis Ah-lou. It's Moy-SIS Ah-LOW. That's right. His surname is routinely mispronounced, has been his whole baseball life.

The son of Felipe Ah-LOW and nephew of Matty and Jesus Ah-LOW is really Moy-SIS Ah-LOW. Honest.

"We never made a big thing about it," Alou said. "At home [in the Dominican], they say Ah-LOW."

A team with new names (or new identities): David Wright introduced the Mets batting order on the FOX telecast on Saturday in this way: "Jose Reyes, the most exciting player in the big leagues; Endy 'The Catch' Chavez; Carlos 'Mr. GQ' Beltran; Carlos Delgado, the Puerto Rican Mr. T; Yours Truly (Wright); Shawn 'I miss my hair' Green; Paul Lo Duca, our Eddie Munster; Damion 'Hit Man' Easley; and Tom Glavine, my favorite player when I was in grammar school."

Because Wright introduced himself as merely "Yours truly," MLB.com asked Lo Duca to provide something a little more creative -- and sarcastic. His offering was "David 'Dig Me' Wright."

Said Lo Duca: "You know he loves himself."

It does take some of the shine off of Wright that he loves and respects Delgado...in fact it takes some shine off of the whole team.

I don't give a spit about the thin man's politics, as long as he starts hitting, which he will.

2 hits yesterday, including a RBI double.

After that intro, Delgado should come to the plate, point his bat at the pitcher and yell "If you keep pitching like a crazy fool, you're gonna meet my friend, PAIN!" Of course then he might get pegged. But it'd be a free baserunner I suppose.

For what it's worth, I watched the team during the Anthem yesterday. All the players, including Delgado, had their caps off. Some were looking around distractedly, but he was standing tall, cap on chest.

LOL, I was hoping somebody typed in the names. That was really funny stuff.

Anybody take note of how little charisma Damon had when introducing the Yanks? He just looked really uncomfortable, and even used the same nickname for two different players.
