| From Lansing, Michigan today: ------------------------------------- The three main components of Obama’s plan are: — Get 1 million 150 mile-per-gallon plug-in hybrids on U.S. roads within six years. — Require that 10 percent of U.S. energy comes from renewable sources by the end of his first term – more than double the current level. — Reduce U.S. demand for electricity 15 percent by 2020. ------------------------------------- Genious. |

| The oil companies like the hydrogen fuel cell option because they get to sell something at gas stations besides gasoline. The plug-in hybrid takes them out of the mix entirely.

| that's why Hydrogen is the answer. There will NEVER be a solution to gas powered cars iunless the oil companies are give an oppotunity to protect their profit.

| I don't think it is a totally realistic (or even unrealistic, I think we could reach somewhere in the middle) option, but the dude who used to own PayPal now owns the biggest solar energy company in California. He is trying to develop an affordable ($20,000-$30,000) all electric car with 400-mile range that can charge up to 80% in less than two hours by 2012 (I think - I read this article a while ago). He would also look into including a solar panel for the house to account for the additional electrical energy that would be needed. It's intriguing, to say the least. But eventually we're going to have to get away from hybrids all together, plug-in or not.

And this is the problem with the liberal mindset. They do not see beyond the nose on their face. Get them meddling in fields like science which require distinct logic and rule sets (and not just making stuff up as you go, as in "art" and "philosophy") and all hell breaks loose. Nevermind that it's quite clear how Obama intends to reduce electricity use. He wants us all in caves, like the rest of the libs and their burnt caramel brethren across the sea do. | It's not as much especially vexing as it is mildly Fonzy. I want to see their numbers on plugging those suckers in, ONE MILLION of them, and how much electricity they use, and then seeing where the cuts are coming from. Will anyone in the media have the balls to ask them how they plan to do that, or are we just going to Bah along.

My favorite example of this was Obama's other ingenious plan last week to confiscate all the oil profits and have them send each consumer a $1000 check. Like um... leaving aside for a minute that the government already confiscates 50% of their profits by frggin' law (hellooo McFly....) who the f*ck does he think are going to end up paying for that tax?
