| Awesome orator of life's great adventures like the Dark Knight, Shawshank, the Olympics, and all things Ashley Judd. -or- Visa sell out with one too many Bucket Lists and Evan Almighty's on his resume. Discuss you miserable shitstains!

| Love the dude's voice, he's great as a character actor, not so much as a lead HOWEVER Shawshank Redemption has not held up real well over the years...watching it for the umpteenth time, you gotta wonder what all the hype was about.

I posted this after seeing the Visa commercial about the Olympics, and I instantly bought into it. The guy can do no wrong to me. Some of the best scenes of Dark Knight involve him, and even Bruce Almighty (and Evan) is watchable because of him. Just wanted to see if anyone has anything bad to say about him. I do agree with Mule that he is always best in a supporting role. Hell, I even enjoyed his turn as President in Deep Impact.

| Good point. Pretty much everyone was excellent in that movie, but Morgan Freeman really shined in that role.

| Let's just say this; if Morgan Freeman were in a snuff film that involved him sleeping with and killing a dozen morbidly obese women, I'd still watch it. Also, that Visa commerical about the Olympic runner who tore his hamstring and finished the race carried by his dad sends chills up my spine because of the way Freeman delivers it. When the commercial is over I have to remind myself that it was just that, and not some dramatic piece of cinema.

How about the Christian Slater/Morgan Freeman classic Hard Rain? Glory and Unforgiven are his two best movies. To date.

| Guy's a great actor... they all make duds. Have you seen the last 25 or so movies Robert DeNiro has been in? I actually "met" him once...sorta. I was working as a temp in the marketing department at Dreamworks, and got to work the "premiers" of a few of their movies. At the premiere of "Amistad," I was helping some of the famous folks find their seats. Met Melissa Etheridge, that sweaty guy from "Get Shorty," some dude from Wings who was on Studio 60 later on... anyway. I was walking from one area of the theater to another, and off to the side was Mr. Freeman, talking to someone I didn't recognize. The first thing you notice about him is how goddamn TALL he is. Second, how cool he is. Now, we weren't supposed to "engage any of the stars in any conversation," but when I walked by him, he looked up, and met my glance... So, I basically nodded to him (Jersey style) and said, "how ya doin'?" His response was so cool, so Morgan Freeman, it chilled my blood... He nodded, slight grin, and said, simply... "Fine." It rolled out in that statemanly voice like .... "Faaaaaaaaahn." I've been quoting it ever since, whenever I'm asked how I'm doing. People look at me like I'm nuts, but it has just stuck with me. In my travels, through various jobs, I've met a few famous folks, but he was the only one who really impressed me... and all he said was "fine." He's just the coolest. [/hinkleymoment]
