Default Opie & Anthony joke about raping Condoleeza Rice

Suddenly, Imus seems like a saint.

Actual audio available here. I'm trying to find a written transcript and haven't yet...the synopsis goes:

Quote:
On Wednesday's show XM Shock Jocks Opie and Anthony engage in discussion about forced sex with the Secretary of State. A studio guest, Homeless Charlie, begins describing the scenario as the hosts laugh and encourage him. Anthony talks about the horror for Rice as the guest is "holding her down" and assaulting her. They invite Charlie to be a regular guest.
I know these guys are supposed to be out there, but that's ridiculous.

edit:

Voice 1 (Charlie): I tell you what -- what that George Bush b***h, Rice? Condoleezza Rice?
Voice 2 (Host): Condoleezza Rice.

V1: I'd love to f**k that b***h, man. (Laughter) She needs to f**k a man. I'd f**k her.

V2: I can just imagine the horror on Condoleezza Rice's face when she realized what was going on. (Laughter)

V3 (Host 2): You were all just holdin' her down and, you know, f**kin' her. (Laughter)

V1: Punch her all in the f**kin' face, saying, "Shut up, b***h." (Laughter)

V3: That's exactly what I meant. (Laughter)

I heard it live, it wasn't as bad as it is going to be made out to be. Besides, most of the non-XM listers didn't get to hear most of that "interview" because the radio stations simulcasting the show dumped out on alot of it. I think, in all honesty, they've been trying to push the envelope a little more lately because of **** like that. They had Larry the Cable Guy (someone I cannot stand) on their show yesterday as well doing some of his routine. When he got to one of his asian driver jokes all of the stations dumped out on it. This country is getting FAR too PC and I jsut don't like the direction it is heading when you cannot poke fun at anyone unless you are of the same race, creed or color as that person.

As an O&A fan, I can't say that I like this, or that it's even funny. I'm not defending it in any way, but you can say things like this on satellite radio.

On terrestrial radio, the rules are a bit different.

(EDIT to add below)

I don't have XM or any other satellite radio, and I can confirm that I didn't hear anything like this (I only listen from about 6:30-8:00 at the most though -- what time was this on the air?). I did hear the Larry the Cable Guy stuff, and they even mentioned that there were asian driving jokes dumped out. While listening, Larry even said "I can say that because my Wife's asian" and it didn't make any sense since all of the jokes preceding that statement wre dumped out.

BTW, having never even heard of Larry the Cable Guy, I thought he was kinda funny.

Title is very misleading. O&A didn't say this. A homeless guy did.

Just got an e-mail about this:

Quote:
info@wackbag.com" to me
show details 11:56 pm (10 hours ago)

To The Listeners, Pests, and Members of Wackbag;

We all knew this day would come. The Opie and Anthony Show is threatened by people who want to control what everyone should say. Don Imus was fired for making a bad joke about a sympathetic diverse losing woman's basketball team, JV & Elvis were suspended indefinitely from FreeFM for satire on Asian accents and now some special interest groups will say they are offended to gain publicity and fame for their cause because a homeless person commented on what he would like to do to Condoleezza Rice.

So we should give them what they want but expose them as the hypocritical, anti-free speech and political correctness police that they are when they come out of their hiding spots. Also, preemptively, we should contact Opie and Anthony’s bosses and people of the companies why they should stand with them and have a backbone for a change. People only write letters when they are told things are offensive and the silent majority loses when they remain silent. These special interest groups who claim to know better think everything should be nice and not be made fun of. But sometimes humor that might offend is refreshing.

So to prevent only the minority from ruling the majority please write, email and call these people. Remind them it is important that a corporation would stand-up for the users of their product and not succumb to the demands of people who do not. You have enjoyed The Opie and Anthony show and now they need our help>>

No apologizes for people that do not listen or do not want The Opie and Anthony Show to continue speaking out.
The rest of the e-mail is samples of fans writing letters in defense of the show, and the e-mail address to send these to. There are also a ton of phone numbers to call.

EDIT:
The thing people need to realize is that this isn't a free speech issue at all, and that's what I really hate about this e-mail. O&A, and some homeless dude, and everybody else has a right to say whatever they want. But the bosses of these two guys has the right to fire them for whatever reason they want as well.

Opie and Anthony weren't joking about it? The title's not misleading at all. There were joking about what the douchebag said.

And Romy, you know I'm about as un-PC a guy as you're going to find, but making jokes about raping a woman isn't funny at all.

(edited for grammar)

what Krunchy said + what Mule said...

It is amazing to me that people find these two imbecile dolts even slightly funny.

This is a testament to how stupid our ****ing society has become, what Imus said was somehow linked to lynchings in the south, while these two ****ing numbnuts allow a degenerite to get on the air and talk about how he would like to "rape" someone.

How is that even remotely funny? And how is even joking about abusing someone elses personal right to safety free speech?

According to those who make the PC rules Rice is essentially a White Man anyhow, so this will blow over.

What's more disturbing than the "PC police" is the fact that the author of this e-mail doesn't find what was said to be offensive. I, like Mule, am no PC guy but rape is nothing to joke about. Add to this our country's long history of white slave owners raping black women and it's even worse. The sad thing is that because it was said about Rice and not Oprah, I doubt Jesse and Al will have much to say.

I agree with KF, it's not about the first amendment because the government isn't trying to suppress it. The people, however, have every right to express their outrage. And while O and A's show doesn't have sponsors the people can still show their displeasure by threatening to cancel their subscriptions.

Is that an XM thing? Because on terrestrial radio they're always going to commercials and reading ads for their sponsors.

That I didn't know. I don't even have satellite radio. I simply assumed they were funded by their subscriptions. If indeed they do have sponsors then people should direct their displeasure at them.

O&A are simulcast on Sattelite and Terrestrial. The Satellite is uncut while the Terrestrial is not.

Romy, finding jokes about rape abhorrent isn't being PC - it's just decent. There are some things that you simply don't joke about ever. Like Mule, I'm certainly not someone you could call PC, in fact I have a hatred for the liberal elite - but making light of such an act of evil can NEVER be defended. Why not make it okay to laughingly advocate child abuse on air?

The fact that simple rules about this kind of thing have become so ignored is IMO a very big part of what's wrong with society. In fact, the fact that the liberal elite PC crowd have come to defend those who commit crime over the victims is HOW this kind of thing comes about, and how women are seen as things to be used.

I think we as a society have lost all sense of decency. It's funny because I have been called racist over the years because I am extremely critical of what I see in the black community. It's not that I ever had anything against blacks individually but I simply felt that the standards for acceptable behavior were a lot lower in their communities than in most places. I also felt a disservice was being done to blacks who strived to create a more positive image.

Well, now it is my belief that the standards for decent and acceptable behavior have been lowered all across this once great land. It seems as though the more you can shock, the more outrageous you can be, and the less civil you can be to your fellow man, the cooler you are in modern society. It's no wonder reality shows like Wife Swap, which appeal to the lowest common denominator in our society, do so well. ESPN is now showing competitive eating; this in a nation that is the fattest on Earth, and this seems perfectly normal to most.

The other day I read where a 10 year old was arrested for beating up a homeless Vietnam Vet. Imagine that; you serve your country, get spit on 30 years ago, nobody wants to give you a job and now 10 years olds, who have no respect for you, are beating your ass. Why? Because in someone's twisted view we obviously needed to reach a new low.

IMO, O and A are a perfect example of what's wrong with America. It's attempting to reach new lows just for the sake of reaching new lows. And yes, I agree that it all starts at home. However, bad examples like this only serve to make it worse.

And what will perpetuate that cycle is that some social worker (or such) with no idea of how crime affects the average person will try and plead that it wasn't the 10 year olds fault, that his father isn't perfect, or society has failed him and try and send him on a "confidence building" holiday or something. I'm far from being well to do - I'm an East End "metal head", and have done some pretty decadent things in my time, but the fact that society has become such a vehicle for shifting responsibilty and has turned away from the simples values of decency, and protecting law abiding citizens is why we're in so much trouble. Whilst I'm not right wing by any means, it is the reason why I hate the liberal elite - I feel their excuse making and hand wringing (normally done by those who don't live with the consequences of the nasty little ****s they protect) has done far more damage to society than anything the supposedly heartless right would ever do.
