Default McCain gaining ground?

So this latest poll from ARG confirms what we've all been sensing for some time now, McCain is back! Was it his rendition of "Barbara Ann," which earned him the support of MoveOn.org. Was it the speech at VMI, which set tongues wagging? Or maybe it was just that McCain flourishes as an underdog. Whatever the case, McCain now has the lead in the three states that matter most: Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina.

Interestingly, McCain gets the most separation from the field in South Carolina, where one might expect a less impressive showing given the shellacking he took from George Bush there in 2000, after beating the president-to-be by 19 points in New Hampshire. But he's led in that state consistently, and it's more a decline in support for Giuliani and the arrival of Fred Thompson that have improved his position.

The Politico's Jonathan Martin writes that McCain "has gained strength among independents and continues to do well among Republicans. While the coverage was often unfriendly, keep in mind that McCain has been the subject of story after story in the recent days when the survey was taken."
I have no idea who "American Research Group" is, so yes the poll data is suspect. You can find it at http://americanresearchgroup.com/ . On the Dem side right now, they have Edwards leading in Iowa and Hillary in New Hamp and South Carolina.

I cannot imagine anyone coming close to beating Hillary when it's all said and done. She has most of the greatest political strategists on the planet working for her now. She's like the Russian hockey team. As far as I'm concerned the nomination is as good as hers, I don't care what the polls say at this point.

As far as McCain goes, I think his bomb bomb bomb Iran and appearance on Stewart that nearly gave Murtha a stroke helped him this boost in the polls. That along with a couple of very serious stumbles by Rudy. However since the poll he's gone back to nailing the president for media-hyped nonscandal (Gonzalez) and Rudy launched his spectacular salvo against the Democrats' Iraq policy so I'd expect things to be back to what they were a month or two ago.

1)...I think he's a little "unstable"

2)......and this is MY OPINION, but I personally have a problem with a guy who while being a POW gave information to the enemy, while many of hios co-prisoners were tortured (to a far greater extent than he). Now don't get me wrong, I would have folded like a house of cards in a windstorm under the same circumstances, but I'm not running for President, don't represent myself as a "hawk:" nor a war hero.

I don't believe that. I bet you wouldn't have even told them your name.

I'm not understanding where the "gave information to the enemy" stuff comes from. I know he signed one of those stupid letters "admitting to war crimes" and such...where did you read this other stuff from?

Just one of many....now don't get me wrong....I'm not 100% convinced that all of this is true, but it is just enough to make me have a lot of concerns about the guy as President.

Wow. That's the nicest thing I've ever let a guy say to me.

I personally feel McCain's time is gone. He should have run in 2000. He was smeared by the Bushiites. A familiar fate shared by many other patriotic Americans. Now he is trying to be a cartoon charactor immitation of Chicken George himself. I don't think very many people are looking for another George W.

As for Hilary. I don't feel that most people LIKE her. She may be qualified and policially be ok, But the bottom line I think is people just don't LIKE her, even if they agree with her on a lot of issues. I don't feel Obama has enough experience at this point in time.

I really think both parties would like to find someone else, other than the front runners. We shall find out what happens.
