Bishop urges Christians to call God 'Allah'
Catholic leader believes it would help ease tensions between religions

Catholic churches in the Netherlands should use the name Allah for God to ease tensions between Muslims and Christians, says a Dutch bishop.

Tiny Muskens, the bishop of Breda, told the Dutch TV program "Network" Monday night he believes God doesn't mind what he is called, Radio Netherlands Worldwide reported.

The Almighty is above such "discussion and bickering," he insisted.

Muskens points to Indonesia, where he served 30 years ago, as an example for Dutch churches. Christians in the Middle East also use the term Allah for God.

"Someone like me has prayed to Allah yang maha kuasa (Almighty God) for eight years in Indonesia and other priests for 20 or 30 years," Muskens said. "In the heart of the Eucharist, God is called Allah over there, so why can't we start doing that together?"

There was something else today in England where they cancelled an episode of a popular TV show because it has Islimeist terrorists and they didnt want to offend them

Wasn't Tom Clancy's The Sum of All Fears about muslim terrorists, and they changed it to Neo-Nazis for Hollywood?

Anyway, I'm noticing a disturbing trend. We can't portray muslims as suicide bombers and terrorists in the movies, but more muslim-looking people are showing up in the normal roles. It's insidious and it's not fooling me. I don't want to go watching a regular movie and see Mohammed Atta showing up as "the best friend". Not when books are being rewritten because we're afraid of facing the truth.

And while all this is going on, Al Sharpton is still banging his racist drum. If he'd shut up for five minutes, maybe we'd be able to hear the real racists as they slip their prayer mats under our knees...

Clancy's book was about both a facist German (who kidnaps a scientist from his home), a Russian group of ex-patriots and muslims using each other to bomb the super bowl. I am not sure it matters if Hollywood changed the basic premise of the book much (the arabs in the book played the role of flunkies anyhow) as nobody goes to see movies that star Ben Affleck.

Workers have recently been banned from eating during their lunch break in sight of muslims in case it offends them during their fasting period. Some schools have forced non muslim children to eat halal meat at lunch, and actually banned parents who complained from entering school grounds on the premise that not wanting islam forced upon their children made them racist.
