I hate windows. When I'm done writing my thesis I'm putting another OS on this computer. Since my last update, I can no longer spend 20 minutes on firefox without some window popping up to warn me that the program "firefox" is trying to let my computer access the internet - or something similar. He just wants everyone at the mercy of explorer. Microsoft = evil.

I am sure it will settle down after I accept certificates and cookies for a few days - but it really is annoying that he has to make you want it that bad before you can get away from him.

Isn't there a box you can check when that comes up that says something like 'always grant this program access".

I am still running XP but I use firefox all the time and have had no problems. I know there are a lot of people not happy with vista but I think XP has been one of the better OS they have released and the main reason why I am not upgrading.

I do a ton of work for Microsoft. Beleive me, they are so uptight about security, privacy and protection of YOUR data, its unbelievable. I run tons of marketing/data collection efforts from them and I cant even ask you for your first name without the approval of about ten different people over at Microsoft and not without written documentation about how Im collecting the date, for what purpose and what Im going to do with it once the program is concluded. In fact, they wont even let me send them ANYTHING if they dont truly need it for the marketing efforts they are running. Their privacy protection efforts are some of the best out there and privacy and data protection for what they collect has been one of their primary goals Company-wide. Relax.
