I doubt any of these folks could have predicted the shootings, BUT the fear of PC backlash seems to have stopped the censure I'd imagine would be normal had it been a non Muslim expressing the various anti American views that have been linked to him. Especially as it was an ongoing theme, and not something he'd suddenly espoused just days before the shooting.

For example, over here when police or military personnel have been found to clearly sympathise with radical facist groups, they've been removed. It just makes sense to do so.
