Problem with Church is much like this year, the Mets cannot go into the season expect to get 160 productive games out of him since he's still an unknown. Was the start of this year a coming out party or just a hot streak that would have faded even without the injury? They need someone...ready to at least platoon with him.
If Evans and Tatis are around thats probably fine (but dont bet on Tatis being as good), especially with Martinez still around, but then LF better have a fulltime, known commodity there.
I've said before I'd love to see a guy like a Raul Ibanez there. Yeah he's another lefty bat, but he's held his own against lefties...career .270 hitter vs. them. Just a steady, professional bat, and a guy that is a team player. He's a career .305 hitter WRISP, is used to playing in a pitchers park, he has the right last name for Omar, and was born in NY. Just a really good fit if they can basically give him Alou's 8-9 mil |
