There was talk that he never would have retired if the Giants offered him 8 mil this off season. Rumors were/are that they only offered 6.5 so he decided to put the cleats away.
I've also read recently that he's lost about 10 pounds of muscle from last year so even if he does sign I wouldn't expect to see much of him over the first few weeks.
And for those that aren't aware, talk has the Giants $12 mil under the cap so it's doable without having to renegotiate any other deals.
