I dont think that guys like Payton, Gerut, or Rivera are an upgrade over the crap we see out there now.

Winn is a decent OFer, having a decent year, but much like Ibanez I dont really want to see the Mets pay anything to get those guys. If they can be had for spare parts and pure garbage like Muniz and such sure go for it, but I dont want to see anything of actual value go out the door (aka Carp, Niese, Murphy, Evans types) ...both these guys make too much for their typical production (or at least the production I'd expect from aging OFers going forward) IMO.

Dunn is a butcher, but he's likely outta Cincy and he's on pace for another 40 HR, 100 RBI, 100+ BB season. His biggest problem is that he's another lefty bat in this lineup (same deal with Ibanez really) and how much do you spend on a possible rental/how much does Cincy want considering they can keep him and get a draft pick.

Mets badly need some RH pop....which brings us back around again to Bay and Nady. Supposedly TB is hot after Bay tho which makes the Mets chances to get him slim to none and likely sets Nady's price as well.

Is Thames still being shopped by Det?
