He's not coming back. He's probably the next best thing to Sabathia when it comes to "available" pitchers.
Cleveland got EXCELLENT return on a simple rental. Since Milwaukee is a small market team with no postseason appearances since 1982, you could venture to guess that a bigger team with more expectations would lay out a similar or potentially superior return.
Would someone like Niese give up that much as a rotation member when you consider that they could get more for Perez NOW than the draft picks from the end of the year?
Additionally - he might favor the Padres, and, as a crappy team, the Mets wouldn't get their first rounder. I'd rather they get 2 C prospects and a B+ NOW than the Padres #2 and a compensatory pick later.
