I honestly see absolutely no downside.
The 3 possibilities are:
1. He rakes, makes everyone around him better and the mets start winning.
2. He rakes, pissess off the entire clubhouse and everyone rally's against him. (at least the clubhouse is united, bonds will still rake).
3. He sucks, can't play defense and is washed up and gets sent to prison in September. (the mets are out 1/28th of the amount of money they're paying luis castillo and they probably sold some more tickets on the first couple of game days).
and on the absolute best issue, we can answer the age old question of: Can Bonds' production in half a season be greater than Luis Castillo's over 4 years?
