1. The play in left didn't help, but Santana still should have gotten out of that inning.
2. In my post I meant to attach "sucking" to the middle of the order. Santana didn't suck (that is what Pedro has been doing), he just didn't pitch a good game. I know you will say he did, how he only gave up two runs to that offense, blah, blah, blah. But in my mind there is a different scale of what a good game is for a guy who is supposed to be the best pitcher in the baseball; and a game can not be considered well pitched, by said ace, if he is given a two run lead which is gone by the time he leaves the game. Sorry. You can think I am an idiot but I am not going to change my mind. If you went back through time and interviewed any supposedly great pitcher they would not have been happy with that game. I hate to use this as an example but the other night Hamels lost a shut out with two outs in the ninth and then got pulled in a game that the Phils were up by a few runs. He comes to the dugout and looks pissed, like he just gave up the lead. I don't see Santana having the same reaction, and maybe it doesn't matter and it is just something that fans like to see, but in my mind it tells me something about that player. The fact that Santana, appears to shrug off these games with a "well I did my job" attitude, is at least a little bit concerning.
