Unless they envision whomever they trade for being a solution for the next few years, I'd rather the Mets not make yet another bad deal just because "they have to." Sign Lofton, do something else, just don't throw away more young talent.
This is the consequence of the "hope is the plan" approach to the OF situation. The fact that this team never did anything to prepare for the inevitable losses of Alou and Duque - after two seasons in which losing one or both of them pretty much torpedoed legit shots at the World Series - is jawdroppingly stupefying (not to mention the best arguments as to why Omar should be shitcanned, and why the Mets should overpay for reliable middle-shelf talent starting this offseason).
