I hate to say this, but the best advise you could give him is to get out while he's young. He will experience much more joy and pride rooting for the Yankees.
The Mets are losers. I grew up in the late 60's and 70s. The Mets had that "miracle" thing going, so I could always dream.
Today, that is gone. If I had to pinpoint exactly when it left, I would say it was when Piazza made the last-out of the 2000 World Series. It kind of cemented their second class citizenship, which is VASTLY deserved.
I know I am going to get flamed for this. But I don't care. There is no joy rooting for this franchise and I don't know that I would want my kid to be tortured like I have been rooting for this god forsaken, classless, crap franchise.
