Now as far as Wagner is concerned, he's usually a straight shooter, but he must realize that his bad back probably cost this team at least 2 key games in this stretch. I'm sure he's talking with a heavy heart, since he is a leader on the team and in the pen, what he said sounded protective of the other guys who are not getting it done. He should keep it shut for now. |
I agree with all of this, and if he feels that way - even if he's right - he should take it up with Willie and Peterson behind closed doors not through the press. If he wants to protect the other relievers, then just say they've been used a lot and are tired and leave it at that.
