Brooklynite Joe McDonald is the Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of NY Sports Day. Joe is responsible for overseeing the day to day operations, the growth, and expansion of the site.
Besides NY Sports Day, Joe is the Managing Editor of NY Sportscene Magazine and the Assistant Editor of Mets Inside Pitch Magazine.. He is also a regular contributor to Blueshirt Bulletin Magazine.
His work has also been published in the NY Daily News, MLB.com, Arizona Republic, Columbus Dispatch, Detroit Free Press, SportsFan Magazine, Hudson Valley Renegades Official Site and the Albany River Rats official site.
Joe has been on a number of episodes of SNY’s Mets Weekly program during the baseball season, while also appearing on From Bums to Cyclones, a video produced by the Brooklyn Cyclones. He also has been on numerous radio programs as a guest.

Currently, he is a member of the New York chapter of the Professional Hockey Writers’ Association, and has held credentials from most of the area sports teams.
Joe is also a web designer through his company Damocles Designs. He designed this website and other sports outlets on the Internet.
He is 38 and now lives in West Hempstead, NY with his wife, Liz.

Joe Pietaro
Joe Pietaro is the Editor-in-Chief of New York Sportscene Magazine and the former Director of Media Relations for the Strong Island Sound of the ABA. In addition, Joe is a freelance sportswriter and contributes a regular column to a number of websites and numerous leagues and teams, including, the USBL (North East Pennsylvania Breakers), IBL, NAFL (New York Predators), and WPFL (Albany Ambush). He has had articles published in, Gotham Baseball Magazine, The New Jersey Daily Record, Breakaway! Monthly magazine, The Canarsie Courier, and The Montauk Sun. Joe is also a weekly sports commentator on Sirius Satellite Radio.
Brian Bohl

Brian Bohl on the Island
Brian Bohl just completed his sophomore year at Hofstra University, where he is majoring in print journalism and political science. His work has appeared in official publications for the New York Islanders and New York Dragons. Brian is currently a full time columnist for the Hofstra Chronicle and a member of the news department at WRHU. He is Assistant Editor for NYSD covering the Jets, Islanders and Long Island Ducks.

Dennis is responsible for administrating the forum. He is the contact person and for all forum activities. Dennis is a graduate of Franklin and Marshall College, majoring in Government and Theater. He is now attending St. John’s Law School for his JD, pursuing a career in Sports Law. Denn lives on Long Island.

Pete Borriello
Pete Borriello is the Director of Photography for NY Sports Day. He is a digital photographer specializing in sports photography for about two years. Pete’s photos covering high school, professional as well as adult sports leagues have been published in The Wave of Long Island, The Queens Courier, The Queens Times Ledger, and The Aegis of Hartford, Maryland.
Derek Felix

Derek at the Garden
Derek is a freelance writer that has covered the game of hockey for a few years. He has written previews, recaps, etc. for other websites. He also has worked with hockey personality Stan “The Maven” Fischler. In his time there, he contributed to Fischler’s weekly hockey column “The Fischler Report” as well as writing several player profiles for Stan’s Detroit Red Wings’ book. Derek has also worked for ESPN as an NHL researcher contributing extensive stats research to various telecasts. He serves as Senior Writer for NY Sports Day and covers the New Jersey Devils and Staten Island Yankees.

Patrick Hickey, Jr.

Pat Hickey
Soon after graduating from Kingsborough Community College, where he served as the Editor-in-Chief of the school’s paper, The Scepter, for a year and half, in addition to winning the school’s Journalism and Print Media award as the school’s top journalist, Hickey interviewed a handful of professional athletes the likes of David Wright, Ralph Kiner and Janne Ninimaa. Soon after, he went to work for NYSportsday covering the Brooklyn Cyclones. Since then, he has had his work published in the Brooklyn Papers, the Brooklyn View, the Wave of Long Island, the Brooklyn Free Press, NYSportScene Magazine, GothamBaseball.com, The Syracuse Post-Standard, The Astella Action News, BBallCentral.com, PlayLikeAGirlSports.com, Tri-Games.net, NYCityWatch.org, Scout.com and the official website of the EPHL’s Brooklyn Aces
He also won the Sam Castan journalism award before receiving his Bachelor’s degree from Brooklyn College.
Hickey is currently the Sports Editor of Bay Currents Newspaper and an Adjunct Professor of English and Journalism at Kingsborough. He also maintains three sites for NY Sports Day, The award-winning Islanders Blog, The Drive For Five, Dem Brooklyn Bums, which is dedicated to his coverage of the Brooklyn Cyclones and Nets Notes, a weekly updated site containing pieces on the New Jersey Nets.
